The food industry encompasses a wide range of processes which are connected to the whole production chain, from raw materials to end products. High standards of hygiene are required since it is essential to avoid contamination of the processed product. Reliability is a key requirement since malfunctions or machine downtime may cause degeneration and non-uniformity of the end product. A higher level of efficiency entails a reduction of the electric power used.
Drying, Dehydration, Aging. Industrial fans are useful to dry fresh vegetables and fruits or other kinds of foods after washing.
Also drying is a process to reduce the volume of water in many kinds of food. Dehydration of fruits is useful to create many products and new recipes with better preservation capabilities and new uses in many kinds of recipes. Hence, meat, sausages, fish, cheese, fruits and vegetables require proper dehydration process to be converted in widespreaded products and prevent the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. Artificial aging and seasoning process may replace, integrate or recreate weather or climatic conditions necessary to produce some kind of aged foods.
Cooking Lines and Facilities. One of the most spreaded employments of industrial fans is cooking fumes suction. They can be applied directly on ovens for bread, pizza and pastry or in complete filtration systems placed in different places. This happens for industrial kitchens or ships’ kitchens and in food preparation facilities. In some cases, the hot air temperature and the presence of not very clean air with oxidative elements must be taken into consideration when selecting the most appropriate model of fan.
Refrigeration. Industrial fans and blowers are used by manufacturers of industrial refrigeration plants for food storage. To optimize the processes of cold storage the air has to be properly diffused with an uniform distribution to keep the correct temperature and humidity value in every part of the room.
Grain, Cereals and Bread Production, Bakery. Many manufacturing processes for food industry request high pressure industrial fans for pneumatic conveying to transport raw materials, grains, sugar, flour, powders or granular materials. A stream of clean air is the good way. Industrial fans and blowers find application from storage facilities to flour silos too. Storage procedures also request for humidity and temperature control. At the end of the production processes, high pressure fans and blowers work with airslides and they may provide the vacuum for the packaging (if requested).
Sugar and Alcohol Industry. Sugar production involves many specific processes and raw materials (sugar cane, sugar beet) to produce a ready to use white or brown granulated sugar and derivatives. Another product from this process is Blackstrap molasses. Sugar is the main ingredient involved in alcohol production. Please make reference to Chemical Industry Application for more info on distillation plants.
Industrial fans and blowers may be employed in the continuous filtration of the air where food is processed to guarantee the perfect cleaning. Operations in food manufacturing area require high standard of hygiene so special coating for perfect cleaning or inox steel may be requested. Low noise and low vibrations are also very important features to be considered as well. Not least continuous duty requires energy efficiency design to reduce energy consumption.
